Awards: Design Innovation award
BOOmates is a couch competitive game where ghosts do chores! I produced and wrote it with a 13-person team (2 producers, 4 programmers, 5 artists, 2 sound designers) over nine months. • Formed the team: helped pitch a prototype, then interviewed applicants to grow from 6 people to 13.
• Set a six-month milestone plan, then ran 2-week sprints with standups, discipline meetings, advisor meetings, sprint retrospectives, and weekly recaps.
• Wrote the game's narrative and playtest scripts, and synthesized playtest feedback for revisions.
• Replaced a strike system with a team-written honor code, after working with each member to learn what support they needed.
• Moved the team remote when COLA protests and COVID-19 hit, switching tools (Zoom, Discord, Unity Collab) so programmers and artists could keep collaborating live.

Project: Single Player Computer Game in Phaser
Time Frame: Apr to Jun 2019
A 2D planetary strategy game in which sending workers between planets on different time streams puts the player in a utilitarian dilemma. Built in Phaser by a team of three over three two-week sprints.
I designed the core game system and the overarching story. I wrote narrative to aid players in understanding the system without overexplaining and feel for the characters, designed the audio (calming ambient score against a stressful game, retro game sound effects), and took part in sprint planning, paper and digital prototypes, and playtesting.

Project: Competitive/Cooperative Card Game
Time Frame: Oct 2018 to Jun 2019
Fabrication: Laser Cut on Wood & Print Cards
Selected one of 13 games for ARTG 129 “In the Cards”
A competitive and cooperative card game in which players, as Victorian relatives, divide a deceased great-aunt’s estate through the paperwork, waiting periods, and shifting alliances of the real process. One player is the Executor, which sets up a power dynamic. Each player has a list of items they want and trading is the heart of the game: players bargain, compromise, and sometimes sabotage. Someone wins, but everyone leaves a little frustrated. (When my family sorted my grandmother’s estate, an aunt quietly left with a feather hat that many others wanted.)
I designed it while my family was settling my grandmother’s estate, aiming to build empathy across generations about grief and how it makes us behave.
I created four prototypes (paper, paper, laser-cut, final), all playtested across age groups. Designs were made in Adobe Illustrator and then laser-cut into wood.
